The Cultural District in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh is a vibrant arts and entertainment center, featuring 20 galleries, 30 dining establishments and 7 world-class theaters! With 6 presenting and producing cultural organizations working together the curtain is always up in the Cultural District.
August Wilson Center for African American Culture
Season - October thru June. The August Wilson African American Cultural Center presents performing and visual arts programs that celebrate the contributions of African Americans not only in Western Pennsylvania, but nationally and internationally.

Season - October thru April. Five ballets throughout the season (including The Nutcracker each December), mainly at the Benedum Center.

Summer Season June & July. Three large scale musical productions at the Benedum Center. Productions include locally produced work as well as national tours.

A Musical Christmas Carol at the Byham Theater each December.

Season - September – May. Several opera productions per season - at the Benedum Center and other Cultural District venues as well as the Bitz Opera Factory in the Strip District. A number of free and low costs events throughout the season including pre-opera talks for every show, in-depth Opera Up Close lectures, and free Brown Bag Lunch concerts on select Saturdays.
Season - September – May. Productions include plays, musicals & comedies at the O’Reilly Theater. Most shows run for several weeks.

Season - Year-Round. Mellon Grand Classics, PNC Pops, National touring attractions and Fiddlesticks Family Concerts appear at Heinz Hall
