Any type of group, any type of tour, any time of year. Destination: Greater Pittsburgh can help you plan an unforgettable Group visit.

DGP History

DGP was founded in 1990 by Joyce Lee who was the Director of Tourism at the Greater Pittsburgh Convention & Visitors Bureau at the time. Her vision was for DGP to serve as a way for attractions to network and work together to enhance the experience of groups visiting the city. DGP soon expanded to include hotels to maximize on packaging opportunities. As the group has grown and evolved over the years members now include tourism promotional service providers, restaurants, shopping and more allowing members to partner with each other on all aspects of group travel.

How DGP Connects

Monthly Meetings - DGP hosts monthly meetings at different member locations designed to help Members get to know each other and the region better. Meetings offer a chance to network and build relationships with regional tourism partners; education and insight about the industry through speakers, programs and member spotlights.

In addition to monthly meetings and networking opportunities for our members, DGP builds relationships with Tour Operators and group leaders in multiple ways. While we are always working to find new outreach ideas some of our traditional methods include:

FAM Tours:  A FAM is a familiarization tour designed to give visiting tour operators a taste of what their guests would experience before booking tours with DGP members and bringing their groups!

Travel Shows: Each year DGP members vote on which travel shows to attend. One or two quality ambassadors are sent to represent all of DGP’s membership. This year, you can meet with us at Heartland Travel Showcase and PBA.
